1. Do I require pre-marital
counseling?
No. I do not require counseling, but if asked
I will provide it for a nominal hourly fee.
2. Will I officiate a ceremony
where either person has previously been married?
Yes. My
goal as your officiant is to marry those who desire to
be married.
3. Can I include
children from a previous marriage in the ceremony?
Yes. I think it’s a good way to give the child(ern) a sense of
family when you do include them, but you don’t have
to. There are several ways to include your children in
the ceremony depending on your style and which ceremony
you choose.
4. How do I obtain a marriage
license?
Both bride and groom have to go the county courthouse
together and apply for a marriage license. Click here for
a list of county courthouse.
5. How long is the marriage
license good for?
A GA marriage license is good indefinitely.
It never expires. However, the marriage only becomes valid
once the Officiant signs it and the court records the marriage.
6. Is a blood test
required
to obtain a marriage license in GA?
No. No
blood test is required.
7. Is it necessary to have
witness to sign the marriage license?
No. Witnesses are
no longer needed in the state of Georgia. The only signature
needed is the officiant’s signature. This means that
you can have a wedding with just three people, bride, groom,
and Officiant.
8. Who is responsible
for sending the marriage license back to the courthouse
after
the marriage ceremony?
It is the responsibility of the
Officiant to send in the license.
9. Can I have a private
ceremony and then a public ceremony?
Yes. I have officiated several
private ceremonies with just the bride and groom and later
they held a public ceremony somewhere else. I have also
officiated public ceremonies where the couple had been
previously married in a private ceremony and were having
a public ceremony so friends and family could feel apart
of their marriage.
10. Do I need a wedding coordinator
for my wedding?
That depends on how big and detailed your
ceremony is. I have officiated several ceremonies with
and without a wedding coordinator. I can assist with directing
the rehearsal, but on the day of the wedding my focus is
on the ceremony, not on music or who comes in when.
